by Lance Williams

What was the world's fastest boat?

The first water speed record was recorded on September 19, 1919 when Casey Baldwin throttled his Hydrodome IV up to a watery 70.86 MPH.

The current world's fastest boat is the Spirit of Australia which Ken Warby managed to get up to 317.60 MPH or 511.13 KM/H at Blowering Dam in New South Wales, Australia on October 08, 1978.

What is the world's fastest car?

Ever since the car was invented people wanted to go fast which soon enough resulted in the competition for the land speed record.

Back on December 18, 1898 Frenchman Achères, Yvelines set the first benchmark for the land speed record taking his electric Jeantaud Duc up to a head turning 39.24 MPH.

The current fastest car is the Thrust SSC which was driven by Andy Green for Richard Noble at the Black Rock Desert in Nevada.

What is the world's fastest computer?

Apparently the world's fastest computer is your brain, but with some of the people we know we really question that claim.

Omitting the brain, and being familiar with computers, we know that this page will probably be outdated by the time it loads on your computer, but as of 5:59 AM PST on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 the world's fastest computer is the Blue Gene/L.

The Blue Gene/L was developed at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and can perform at up to 360 teraflops with a sustained performance of 280.6 teraflops.

Who is the world's fastest man?

Unfortunately for Justin Gatlin his reign as the world's fastest man was short lived as there was a scoring error and his time should have been rounded up to the nearest 1/1000 of a second instead of down as it was thus his time was adjusted to 9.77 seconds.

Justin Gatlin now shares the title of world's fastest man with Jamaican Asafa Powell who has also run a 9.77 second 100 meters.

What is the world's fastest motorcycle?

If you enjoy seeing motorcycles go really fast make sure you don't miss the annual BUB Motorcycle Speed Trials at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.

Kingda Ka goes from 0 to 128 MPH or 204.8 KM/H in just 3.3 seconds, becoming the first roller coaster to surpass the 200 KM/H mark.

By: Janice McSherry

When people think of fun things to do in Orlando, they usually start imagining the theme parks and similar attractions. But if you adore antiques then you can also have some fun at the amazing antique markets in and near Orlando. Let?s take a look at what you can find.

First of all, right in the city limits of Orlando you can head over to Orange Avenue which the antique center of the city. There you will find many antique stores along the north and south sections of Orange Avenue. You can get started at the Orange Avenue Antique Market, 1829 N Orange Ave, Orlando, FL 32804, 407 895 9911 and work your way up and down the street or take a look at the local yellow pages to find exact locations of all the antique shops in this area.

If you would like to combine your antique shopping with a nice drive out of Orlando then you should plan on an outing to Mt. Dora. This is a beautiful small town located 25 miles Northwest of Orlando. With a population of 8,000 and many well maintained turn of the century buildings you will think that you have turned the clock back 100 years.

While Mount Dora is justly famous for all the antiques on sale here, its location in the middle of Lake Country, an area with more than 1,400 lakes, also make it an attractive location for a day?s outing. In case you are curious about the name, there is a Mount Dora. It is a hill that soars to the height of 184 feet, and you can even buy a tee shirt proudly proclaiming that ?I climbed Mount Dora.?

According to the Mount Dora chamber of commerce, there are more antique dealers per square foot in Mount Dora than any other place in Florida, so it shouldn?t be too difficult for you to find the antique shops in this town.

While you can buy antiques here on any day of the year, Mount Dora really comes alive on the weekends of Renninger s Antique Extravaganza, which is among the largest in the South, featuring more than 1,400 antiques and collectibles dealers. Thousands of antique enthusiasts flock to Renninger s Antique Center to view and purchase antiques, heirlooms and collectibles spread over 117 acres.

In case you are traveling with members of the family who are not antique shoppers, then there are many other things to enjoy in Mount Dora such as biking, fishing and evening cruises on the lake.

In addition to the Renniger?s Antique Extravaganza, there are also other special events that draw thousands of people to this small town. For example during the first weekend of February artists come to Mount Dora to exhibit their paintings and sculpture.

In April it is the turn of the antique boat fans, who come to the marina and enjoy charter boat and boat rentals during the first weekend of the month. On the second to last weekend of April, skilled sailors compete in the largest inland regatta of Florida, on Lake Dora. Finally, on the second to last weekend in October, the town becomes a cycling hub as cyclists pour in for a celebration of their sport.

You can make your trip to Mount Dora a day?s outing, or you can stay overnight in the quaint bed and breakfast inns that serve the many visitors to the town.

6 Ways to Save Money on Your Vacation

By: M Gravlee

The majority of people today often find that the act of traveling to a new and exciting location for various leisure activities is a much anticipated event. Whether the trip is for business travel, a ski trip or for that matter any special time of the year you need only to decide that it would be a great time to go on a trip and simply pack up. The problem is that can be an costly proposition. Not everybody can afford to buy a plane ticket or can they pay to stay in a luxury accommodations or in some cases they simply do not have the required money to spend when they get to their chosen location for their planned vacation. If you know where to look for it traveling does not have to be expensive. If this idea invokes your interest then by all means continue reading this article.

  1. Use the Internet! People with access to the Internet will find it simple to look for affordable travel offerings ranging from airlines, hotels, villas for rent, cruises or even car rentals. Almost all travel related establishments every where now have a web site so that you can go to and get the desired information prior to actually completing your travel plans. You can usually contact the sellers directly and get more information.

  2. Check the day and time you travel. During the non-peak days of the week you can easily find many special deals or discounted pricing for both airline tickets and accommodations. Airlines may offer seven or eight flights to your destination on a particular day. Say if you need to leave in the morning, check out all the departures that leave in the morning. Since airlines price tickets according to the availability of seats on the plane, moving your time by just one hour or so may save you a great sum of cash.

  3. Another way to save is by going with a group such as a tour group, travel group or travel club. Group travel is booked ahead of time by travel agencies. They buy in bulk, frequently chartering a whole airplane and reserving a large number of rooms to get the very lowest price.

  4. Book early! Make your vacation plans well in advance. Book your cruise a year in advance for the vest discounts, and get the lowest rail fares just after the holidays. If you make your reservations several months before you travel you typically get your choice of flights and rooms at the best prices.

  5. Travel during the off-season. For example, go to the Caribbean and Mayan Rivera in the summer because in the winter rates for accommodations and plane fares go up. Caribbean cruises are less expensive when you go in the fall versus winter or spring. Hawaii is least expensive from mid-September to mid-December. Europe's best deals are available between Thanksgiving and Easter when the locals are not on vacation.

  6. In a foreign country exchange money at a local bank for the best rates. ATMs affiliated with major international banks are great, but watch out for foreign ATMs. While they normally won't charge you a fee, your bank may charge you one! Learn your bank's policies before you go on your trip.

These are but a few of the countless ways you can make your vacation less expensive. All you need to do is be resourceful and try to coordinate your timing properly and you can have that dream vacation that you have wanted so long without destroying your family budget.
